Kali Marnane

I am an architect and urban designer with qualitative research experience in the fields of urban morphology, public space and urban neighbourhoods, community engagement, co-design, intercultural and socially responsive design. I am interested in how built environments might support or hinder people’s lives and work with communities to ensure their voices are heard in built environment planning and design. In 2021 I completed my PhD, “An Architecture of Informality: the physical and social environment of two informal settlements in Ahmedabad, India,” at The University of Queensland. My research documents spatial organisation and meaning in two underserved communities, where the agency of residents is often ignored. I am now working as an Associate Lecturer and Post-doctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland’s School of Architecture.
