Vidya S. Pancholi
I’m a PhD graduate in Urban Studies from the University of Sheffield. My research examined the accomplishment and the everyday experiences of a ‘slum’ rehousing scheme in the periphery of Mumbai, India. During my PhD tenure, I taught at the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, UCL. I also assisted a few faculty members in their modules at the Department of Urban Studies, the University of Sheffield. Before joining Sheffield University in 2014, I had worked on a European-Union (EU) funded research project in India that focused on the challenges of urbanisation and inclusive development. I have also worked under government advisory and business consulting domains. My research interests include issues related to urban poor’s housing, urban planning, and participatory local governance in the cities of the global South. I’m deeply committed to the advancement of Southern urbanism via teaching, research and praxis.
