Solabomi Onike
I am a graduate researcher at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning- University of Melbourne, Australia. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Planning from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Lagos, Nigeria. Generally, I am keen on research topics on sustainable livelihood, informal workers and settlements, urban governance, and public infrastructure benefits for communities in the Global South. My current research focuses on the contestation and negotiation of urban public spaces by street vendors through social capital in Lagos, Nigeria. It adopts qualitative techniques to explore the action of urban actors and the reactions of street traders in accessing public spaces amidst the modernist plans of Lagos state.
