Sana Ahrar
I am an architect and an urban regeneration specialist. My research interests are urban informality, urban transformation studies, emerging research methods for community engagement, and heritage studies. I draw on both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and my research experience includes projects and scholarly publications in India and the United States.
I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Architecture at Pennsylvania State University. I am exploring the potential of mixed-income informal developments in Delhi for my dissertation. This project raises ethical concerns about the right to the city, focusing on the social implications of the current top-down urban planning practices and the socio-spatial bottom-up responses by local communities.
