Gillian Cornish

I am a social development practitioner and researcher. My research interests include urban planning, informal urbanism, resettlement, livelihood recovery, social capital, and place attachment. My doctoral research investigated coping mechanisms people develop to regain access to work, shelter and community after being forced to move. I did my fieldwork in Yangon, Myanmar, and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2020. I have experience working in academic institutions, development NGOs, multilateral organisations, and private consulting.
