Stephanie Butcher

I work as a Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne’s Connected CIties Lab on a global programme of work : Knowledge in Action for Urban Equality (KNOW). The KNOW project is focused on generating research and action on policy and planning that can build pathways to greater urban equality in a range of global South cities. I focus specifically on a work package on ‘knowledge translation’, particularly seeking to understand how localised knowledge and practices can inform global agendas (such as the SDGs), as well as how those agendas can better be realised through localised realities and contexts. I partner most closely with researchers at the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre (SLURC) in Freetown, and with those based in the regional network the Asian Coalition of Housing Rights (ACHR).
