Politics of Home/Homelessness —Michele Lancione seminar with InfUr—

This seminar took place on Thursday 8th August 2024 with Professor Michele Lancione

Abstract: Conventionally, home is framed as a place of security and belonging, while its loss defines what it means to be homeless. On the basis of this binary, a whole industry of policy interventions, knowledge production, and organizing fails to provide solutions to homelessness but perpetuates violent and precarious forms of inhabitation.  Drawing on research and activism around housing in Europe, this seminar will focus on the interlocking crises of home and homelessness.

Michele Lancione (he/they) is Professor of Geography at Politecnico di Torino and author of the recent book For a Liberatory Politics of Home on which this seminar is based.
