InfUr PhD Completion Seminar with Matt Novacevski — Looking Through Layers: Towards A Post-Colonial Approach to Placemaking Evaluation

This event took place on Monday 20th February 2023. Please see below for a recording of the event:

Abstract: Evocative in its promise, placemaking has become popular as communities and cities around the world seek to foster a stronger sense of place. Yet placemaking’s inherent slipperiness and concern with context makes evaluation of practice a problematic prospect for practitioners. Such difficulties are amplified in Australia, where placemaking is conducted on stolen land. Settler scholar Matt Novacevski’s thesis develops a post-colonial approach to placemaking evaluation, that supports the natural inclination of place to hold life.
